Film description

"The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" (Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari) is considered a milestone of German Expressionism and one of the most influential horror films in cinema history. The film tells the story of the mysterious Dr. Caligari, who commits a series of murders with the help of the somnambulist Cesare. The expressionistic visual design, featuring distorted sets, skewed perspectives, and stark contrasts, conveys a nightmarish atmosphere that reflects the characters' inner turmoil. Director Robert Wiene thereby created a work that is still considered stylistically formative for the horror genre and Expressionist cinema.
